Through its bereavement program, St. Louis Children’s Hospital remains committed to the care and support of families long after the loss of a child. Those needing to talk or have questions may reach out to the Bereavement Coordinator. The Bereavement Coordinator can be reached through the Social Work and Chaplaincy Department at 314.454.6101.
Who We Are
The St. Louis Children's Hospital Bereavement Program is led by the Bereavement Program Coordinator, assisted by other chaplains and bereavement program leaders within some units. We support at the time of loss in the hospital with resources, memory making and compassionate presence, while continuing support as needed in the first year after the loss.
What We Do
Our goal is to assist families who have lost a child at the hospital. Literature is selected that will guide, inform and support families experiencing grief. We support our families during the first twelve months following loss with mailings and telephone calls. Our Bereavement Coordinator provides support through listening presence, compassionate care, and referrals to local and national organizations that are currently helping support families through their loss.
