Every year, St. Louis Children's Hospital performs tens of thousands of free services for medically underserved children and families in the community. Our Healthy Kids Express Screening mobile unit provide services such as hearing and vision screenings, lead and iron deficiency testing, immunizations, and height and weight checks. When issues are identified, children receive referrals for appropriate medical and social services, which are essential for these children to receive the intervention they need to thrive. Asthma care, education and resources are provided to local families through our Healthy Kids Express Asthma mobile unit and community children also receive much-needed dental services and education through the Healthy Kids Express Dental mobile van. This essential care is provided free of charge.
The hospital also provides free health education, parenting classes, teen outreach programs, safety programs, a car seat program and medical information services, including hotlines for children and adolescents and a violence prevention program.
