The St. Louis Children's Hospital Critical Care Transport Team transfers patients by air and ground. Deciding which mode of transportation to use is based on the patient's condition, as well as time and distance concerns. Occasionally, we are unable to use our air service due to poor weather conditions. In these cases, or when a patient's condition does not warrant a flight, the transport team has a fleet of Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs) that allow us to safely transport patients by ground, while maintaining the critical care environment needed for transfer.

We have three transport teams in two locations: St. Louis Children’s Hospital and St. Louis Downtown Airport.
