About our Program
The BEAT Brain Tumor Education and Therapy Support Group goal is to educate, support and connect families whose children are diagnosed with brain or spinal cord tumors. This program is available to all pediatric brain or spinal cord tumor patients and their families throughout the region, regardless of where the child is receiving medical care.
BEAT offers separate educational sessions for parents and teen patients/survivors. Guest speakers present information about treatment and long-term survival issues.
A licensed counselor facilitates the separate support groups for parents and teen patients/survivors. Younger patients/survivors and siblings have activities designed especially for them by an Art therapist, Music Therapist, Child Life Specialist, or other staff member.
BEAT Support Group meets six times during the year on Saturdays from 11:00 to 1:30 to provide families an opportunity to meet and connect. Parking is free. The next scheduled meetings are:
