All training activities take place within the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Department of Psychology and Children’s Specialty Care Centers. The Department of Psychology employs 21 licensed clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, all of who hold faculty appointments through the Washington University School of Medicine.
St. Louis Children’s Hospital has 402 licensed beds, consisting of a 56-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 122-bed newborn intensive care unit and a 16-bed pediatric bone marrow transplant unit. In the 2021-2022 survey, U.S. News & World Report ranked St. Louis Children’s Hospital the number one children's hospital in Missouri and among the best in the nation. Of the 193 hospitals surveyed nationwide, Children's Hospital was one of 8 hospitals to be ranked in all 10 specialties. It is the 13th consecutive year Children's Hospital has been ranked in all 10 specialties. Our institution is also ranked among the top 5 pediatric hospitals in the United States according to the results of a comprehensive study of more than 100 children’s hospitals by Parents magazine.
Fellows will be equipped with resources necessary to complete work-related responsibilities including office space, computer access, phone, and support staff. Support staff will manage scheduling appointments, insurance verification, tracking of appointments, and other indirect patient-related care functions.
Psychology fellows typically work Monday through Friday and have no on-call or overnight duties. Fellows work a 40-50 hour work week dependent on clinical and paperwork demands. The end and start times of the day will depend on that specific day’s schedule. Fellows have on average, 17-18 billable patient contact hours per week. Fellows will see patients only when supported by a supervisor on site.
