Families talk about their ER experiences at St. Louis Children's Hospital

"I brought my son to the ER because he was having difficulty breathing, they quickly and calmly assessed him and diagnosed him with RSV. We were immediately brought back to an exam room and the doctors and nurses did a great job of keeping me informed of what was going on and what to expect in the following days. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and the great job they did of taking care of my family in our time of need!"
-Kim S.

"My son fell while ice skating, and someone skated on his pinkie finger. It looked awful, and I was worried whether his finger was permanently damaged.

A community hospital was 10 minutes away, but I took him to Children's Hospital 30 minutes away because I wanted only the best care for him.

Once we arrived, we were seen within minutes and a child life specialist explained the procedure beforehand. The doctor then examined his finger, and luckily it just needed stitches. A couple of his skating buddies got to watch and thought it was more fun and interesting than ice skating!"

"The two things I remember most about my 3-year-old daughter's trip to the Emergency Room at St. Louis Children's Hospital are the Barbie doll she received while she was in the exam room, and the personalized letter we received in the mail one week later. These two simple gestures demonstrate the team's commitment to making both my daughter - and me - comfortable through a very scary experience.

I also expected to wait a long time because my daughter's condition - a nursemaid's elbow - was not serious and I assumed we'd be placed - understandably - behind other, more life-threatening patients. But even with her minor injury, we were in and out in under an hour."

"Thankful for fantastic care of my daughter from ER doctors at St. Louis Children’s Hospital tonight! Wonderful place!!

"THANK YOU for the care you gave my son in the ER. We brought our 4-year-old to Children's after he fell and hit his head on the coffee table. Not only did you calm him (and us) and fix his cut, we were back home in about an hour! The doctors and nurses were amazing. Children's Hospital is truly a special place."
