Highly specialized emergency interventions
Our critical care team provides precise interventions based on analyzing “physiologic signatures,” or, body and brain measurements that help us predict how the illness will progress. These measurements allow us to time our interventions so they better protect the vulnerable brains of children.
Expertise built on experience
The team provides clinical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to approximately 800 critically ill children and their families each year. This volume gives them the expertise to handle any emergency situation involving the brain.
Coordinated, comprehensive care
The team collaborates with specialists in pediatric neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology and trauma surgery. We also coordinate with rehabilitation services, including developing a seamless plan for your child’s care after hospitalization as well as long-term neurodevelopmental follow up.
Research that translates to better care
We have extensive experience implementing new and experimental therapies in the intensive care unit. This approach to continually improving patient care has transformed the outcomes for survivors of critical illnesses, including limiting disability to a degree previously not believed to be possible.
Leaders in transforming neurocritical care
Our research innovations have led to improved models of care that have been adopted by institutions across the U.S. and in other countries.
