Therapeutic Community Outings (TCOs) are specific to the Neurorehabilitation program at St. Louis Children's Hospital. These outings provide a chance for our Neuro Rehab patients to practice being in the community before they are discharged and provide social interaction opportunities for patients. The Child Life Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing these outings. Patients are driven to the destination of their choice in the Neuro Rehab shuttle, which is driven by staff members who are specially licensed (often the Child Life Specialist). The Neuro Rehab patients have gone to several places around St. Louis for these outings, including, the St. Louis Zoo, Cardinals baseball games, the St. Louis Science center, local shopping malls, the Magic House and many other places.
