** PLEASE NOTE UPDATED VISITOR POLICY FOR WINTER 2010 **
To help ensure the safety of all of our guests, we ask that all visitors obtain a visitor badge each day from either the first or second floor information desks. The badges are to be worn and visible (worn above the waist) at all times while visiting our patients.
Parking is available, for a fee, in the Children’s Hospital visitor garage located directly across the street. There is a covered walkway on the second floor that connects the visitor garage to the main hospital.
Parking is free for parents, grandparents and clergy, who are visiting in-patients only.
We have specific visiting policies in place to protect the health and safety of our patients and their families:
- Please do not visit if you are sick with cold or flu symptoms.
- Parents and grandparents may visit 24 hours a day; other guests may visit from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Visitors are limited to two per patient in patient rooms and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- In order to stay with your child overnight, you may use the chair bed or window bench to sleep. For safety reasons, only one parent may sleep in the patient room. Please see your child’s nurse if you need sleeping accommodations for more than one parent. The nurse can direct you to a nearby parent lounge.
- Visitors to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit are permitted two at a time, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. After 9 p.m., only two designated visitors may stay overnight.
- Visitors should be age 18 or older. During this busy influenza season, siblings younger than 18 can visit by making special arrangements with the patient’s nurse. We ask that these visits be scheduled 24 hours in advance if possible. All visiting children must be accompanied by an adult and receive a badge at the Information Desk.
- Use of cellular phones is permitted in most areas of the hospital. Certain areas may post signs restricting cell phone usage due to equipment interference. Please observe all signage.
- Effective March 1, 2010, St. Louis Children’s Hospital is implementing a Smoke and Tobacco Free Campus policy to provide a healthier environment for all employees, children, families and visitors.
- No phone calls to patient rooms after 10 p.m.
- Use of cellular phones is permitted in most areas of the hospital. Certain areas may post signs restricting cell phone usage due to interference with medical equipment. Please observe all signage.
If you have questions about any of these policies, please ask one of our staff members.
